Wikoff and Wimmers Named Big Ten Players of the Week

Illinois SS Brandon Wikoff was named the Big Ten's player of the week for the second consecutive time after hitting .692 in the Fighting Illini's series against Northwestern. Over the Illini's five games this past week, Wikoff racked up 10 runs and 10 RBIs on 7 extra base hits. This is the second time Wikoff has won the award and the fifth time this season a member of the orange and blue offense has claimed the honors.

Ohio State's hurler Alex Wimmers earned Big Ten pitcher of the week honors after throwing the Big Ten's second no-hitter of the season. Wimmers' no-hitter was the first in Buckeyes baseball history. Wimmers recorded 14 strikeouts in his no-hit performance against the Wolverines. This is the fourth time Wimmers has recieved the honors this season, and the Buckeyes pitching staff as a whole has recieved the award 6 times this season.
